According to reports in England, Celtic are interested in signing Liverpool defender Ben Davies from Liverpool this summer and the Reds are willing to let him leave.
Having joined Liverpool in January this year, the 25-year-old centre-back has found it extremely difficult to get into the first team under Jurgen Klopp and a move away from Anfield looks likely for the player. He has not played a single game for the Reds and at this age, Ben Davies would want his fair share of regular first-team football, so a move away might be the right decision.
Celtic under Ange Postecoglou have recruited some forward players, but they have fallen short in terms of defensive signings. Celtic have signed Carl Starfelt from Rubin Kazan and Osaze Urhoghide from Sheffield Wednesday, but the departure of Kristoffer Ajer has again dealt a blow to the Bhoys. Celtic need to sign a few defensive players before the transfer market slams shut.
Ben Davies was very close to joining Celtic in January, even signing a pre-contract agreement with the club, but Liverpool came in at the last moment to take the player away. Now, things are looking much clear with reports stating that the player will be allowed to leave Liverpool on loan this summer, but the Reds want a buy option for next summer in the deal.
Liverpool willing to listen to loan offers for Ben Davies, with Sheffield United at the front of the queue.
Celtic, who came close to signing him permanently in January, also interested as well as Bournemouth.

Now, this is good news for Celtic as the board would be hesitant in coughing up a few pounds on the player at first, but after a successful loan spell, they might be willing to spend the cash. This might work in favour of the Hoops.
However, Celtic are not the only club interested in signing the player, Sheffield United and Bournemouth are also very keen on getting Davies at their respective clubs. The player performed well in the Championship for Preston and does possess the required quality to shine in the Scottish Premiership.
If Celtic are to mount any form of challenge for the Scottish Premiership title this season against the Rangers, they will have to come up big on defensive reinforcements and that can only be done through new signings. The need is evident as Celtic crashed out of the Champions League qualifiers and also lost 2-1 in their Scottish Premiership opener against Hearts.
Celtic cannot continue with the current defensive options at their disposal if they are hoping to win any title this season. What might be a tad bit positive amongst the chaos is the arrival of Joe Hart from Tottenham Hotspur. This does indicate that Postecoglou is clear about his objectives and he would certainly want Ben Davies in his team.
If the player chooses to make the switch to Parkhead, it sure would bring relief to the manager as well as the supporters. Ben Davies himself is aware that the Bhoys are interested in him, with him choosing Liverpool over Celtic in January.
So, this might make the player ponder over his next move as he would not want to miss out on an opportunity to join Celtic second time running. It’s all dependent on the player’s choice and where he sees his footballing career will prosper. A move to Celtic is worth the shot for the 25-year old defender and he will be able to compete for titles and trophies at Parkhead as a first-team player.
