Scottish Premiership giants Celtic have stated their interest in signing Croatian winger Kristijan Lovric this summer. The HNK Gorica winger is one of the most sought after players in the HNL. The Hoops are hoping to strengthen their squad with new signings as they are looking to reclaim the Scottish Premiership title from Rangers this season.
The Croatian winger came off a brilliant 20/21 season scoring 18 goals and racking up seven assists in 32 games across all competitions. He has hammered a total of 44 goals in 98 appearances for Gorica. The wide forward has been an important player for Gorica and has played a major role in the club’s success during the previous seasons.
Lovric predominantly plays on the left flank and has also shown great ability to create goal-scoring opportunities. The 25-year-old is currently one of the most in-demand players in the Croatian League and was linked to a move to Dynamo Kyiv in January, but talks eventually broke down.
Although Celtic have already secured the services of two wide forwards, Liel Abada, and Kyogo Furuhashi, the manager wants to have more depth for the wide positions as his playing system emphasizes wing attacks. Postecoglou wants to secure a second winger in the form of Kristijan Lovric.
According to reports from IndexHR, Celtic are very keen on signing the Croatian winger in the summer transfer window. The Croatian news outlet also states that Serie A side Hellas Verona are also interested in securing the player’s services. However, no official bids have been placed for the player despite the strong interest from the two teams.
A report by the Daily Mail stated that Celtic have informed Gorica of their interest and made an enquiry about a possible transfer fee for the player. Gorica reportedly replied with a £4.2million (€5 million) price tag for Kristijan Lovric. The Croatian club are aware of the player’s quality and value and are only willing to listen to offers of €5million (£4.2m).

Kristijan Lovric would be an excellent addition for Celtic and would bring quality and depth to the Scottish side as manager Ange Postecoglou looks to rebuild the team ahead of next season. The 25-year-old is a versatile winger, being able to as a second striker or even on the right-wing, apart from the left-flank.
If he does arrive, Lovrić would be part of a new attacking front line next season alongside the other two forwards signed by the Hoops. Moreover, he’s the kind of player who is very likely to succeed in the Scottish Premiership because of his firepower and goalscoring abilities.
This development certainly makes things more interesting for Celtic fans who are very excited about the news. The move would also be very beneficial to the player as it allows him to play in Europe. He has only played football in Croatia except for a small stint in Slovenia and the quality of Scottish football is certainly higher than that of the Croatian League.
Though the transfer talks are still in the early stages, a move for the wide man looks imminent and a deal could be struck soon. Celtic should move quickly for the free-scoring player before the competition for his signature grows.
