Celtic Eyeing a Move for Hibs Star Kevin Nisbet With Griffiths Acting as a Makeweight

Celtic are set to face stiff competition in pursuit of the 24-year old Scottish forward Kevin Nisbet, the striker has drawn the attention of a number of clubs this summer as a key transfer target including Celtic who are setting their sights on the player via a possible deal which includes Leigh Griffiths as a makeweight for the deal to prosper.

Ange Postecoglou would not want to hold back on their transfer pursuit after his appointment as the Celtic boss, and recent revelation suggests that they are interested in securing a move for the highly rated Hibernian forward Kevin Nisbet. The forward has been a hot prospect in the transfer market after his performances last season, with interest even far from Russia, but with strong links with Celtic, it looks like he is likely to stay in Scotland.

Kevin Nisbet had a stellar performance last season with the Scottish Premiership side Hibernian where he netted 14 goals in 33 appearances, which surely has put a significant price tag on his shoulders to ward off prospective suitors who are chasing him for his signature.

The Scottish forward is now being priced at €4 million, which is a hefty sum for the club to pay up for the striker, this is where Griffiths could come in handy (according to Daily Mail), the striker who was linked with a move back to Hibs decided to stay at Parkhead and has now penned down a new one-year contract extension with Celtic, yet could pave the way for an agreement for boyhood Celtic supporter Kevin Nisbet.

The Hibs boss Jack Ross spoke about the potential return of the Scottish International back in March saying :

“It is an easy connection to make because of his association with the club. But I would temper that by saying is he a player we have admiration for?

Of course, because his goal-scoring record is up there with the best in Scotland over recent years.”

With Griffiths entering his 30’s and Odsonne Edouard eyeing a move away from Parkhead, it makes matters more urgent and sensible for Celtic to look out for a striker in the transfer market. With hefty price tags and complicated transfers deals to work with, Nisbet does prove to be a good option for Hoops and with Griffiths acting as a makeweight, the deal can bear fruit in near future.

The 24-year-old Hibs striker is also wanted by other clubs as well as Celtic, with Swansea City, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Russian side Krasnodar also keen, but the Bhoys are now hoping to lead the race.
